John Butler is a founding principal of the Aslan Group. As the Executive Minister at Mount Pisgah UMC for five years prior to starting the Aslan Group, John successfully managed the program ministries, giving development, operations, and finances of one of the largest and most complex churches in the country during the years of its most significant growth and change, including the transition of Senior Pastors.

John has also managed the design of, capital campaigns for, obtaining financing for, and the construction and implementation of nine new facilities projects representing 185,000 square feet of building space and nearly $30 Million in total project costs. All projects, many with overlapping schedules, were completed on time and within approved budgets.

In addition to being a church with over 6,000 members and an average worship attendance in excess of 5,000 per week, Mount Pisgah provides ministries for 25,000 people representing thousands of families in the surrounding community, most of whom are not church members. The Christian School has well over 1,000 students, First Steps Academy provides licensed early childhood development for 250 young children, the Counseling Center serves over 1,000 clients each year, the Beacon of Hope Women’s Center assists several hundred women annually, and the Sports program serves well over 1,000 children and adults throughout the year.

Prior to joining the staff at Mount Pisgah, John served for over ten years in various leadership roles as a volunteer at Mount Pisgah and related Christian ministries. For 28 years immediately prior to joining Mount Pisgah’s staff, John was a business solutions provider in the Information Technology industry. His IT background includes designing, writing, and implementing computerized business applications for over 100 companies including dozens of Fortune 500 companies such as Federal Express, First Union, Tyson Foods and Home Depot.
